Next Home And Garden To Refurbish Homebase Meadows Site London Road Camberley
I was shocked – one Saturday not too long ago to swing into the Homebase car park and see “This Store Is Now Closed” signs everywhere. Let me say right away I used to visit and shop in Homebase at The Meadows relatively often – probably more than once a month – being a regular DIY-er and preferring the ease of access to the Meadows store, compared to B&Q in Farnborough.
But – in my view, opening a Next Home And Garden store has to be good for the area. We don’t need another food shop now do we? Homebase disappearing left Camberley without any real DIY or Garden store – aside maybe from Longacres and Notcutts – admittedly Bagshot not Camberley!
Next’s first Home and Garden store was opened to a great reception from the locals in Shoreham on Sea, in fact, such was the excitement surrounding the launch that police had to be called in to manage the queues and traffic in the vicinity. Here’s Next’s youtube video – shot on the day of the launch.
By all accounts the Next Home And Garden stores opened so far are doing very well, exceeding targets – which suggests that quality and style can still succeed – even in a recession. I’ll be adding new images of the currently open Next Home And Garden stores as they are available in an effort to give a taste of how the new Camberley store will look. I’ll also add news of the current Camberley refurbishment as it becomes available.
